We’ve been breeding healthy and happy working (yellow) Labrador Retrievers [the nation’s favourite dog!!] on the edge of the peak district since 2013. We are members of the Kennel Club’s Assured Breeder Scheme (with a Breeding experience accolade), registered with our local authority (5*), and carry full-insurance ensuring the highest level of welfare for our dogs – it’s for their benefit and your confidence!

We are a small family-run Labrador breeders based on the edge of the Peak District in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. We are proud members of the KC Assured Breeders Scheme and are firmly committed to healthy & happy dog breeding that will improve the overall breed strain. Our breeding bitches have fantastic temperaments and pedigrees making a Derwent Spire puppy the ideal family pet or working companion.

We are registered with Chesterfield Borough Council (LC 202301- 1357, 5*) and comply with all necessary regulations.

Melanie (Mel) Barnes has been around dogs all her life and has been breeding Labradors for over 10 years; she has a wealth of knowledge recognised in her experienced breeder accolade. As a member of the Kennel Club Assured Breeder Scheme Mel ensures that she stays at the front of very best practice in dog breeding.

NEW LITTER 2024

Luna gave birth to six healthy, adorable puppies [1 x dog, 5 x bitches] on the 30th January. Pups will be ready for their new loving homes early April.
